This movie, The Hateful Eight, is a western R movie, from Weinstein.
The start of a year is a good moment for a movie to open. People watched all of happy Christmas romances and dramas. Now they want some action, lots of explosions and running -- as if just by watching they would burn some holiday calories.
This movie, however, takes place in a one-room cabin -- so, not that much of running. There is also a deep snow involved, that adds to a difficulty of moving legs in energetic rhythm.
I predict a nice opening, above $ 8500 per theater. It could be much higher, if there was more fitness or scary jumps planned and executed in the movie's sequences.
